Global Communications Solutions (GCS) division of L-3 Communications has been awarded a follow-on contract by Eyak Technology for 970 combat service support Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSATs). The value of the contract is $42.5 million. These VSAT systems support the communications requirements of U.S. Army forces and other tactical and logistics units in-theater. Work will be performed at L-3 GCS headquarters in Victor, N.Y., with all deliveries scheduled to be completed by October 2010. When this order is fulfilled, approximately 3350 systems will have been delivered to and fielded by the Army. L-3 GCS has supplied more than 2400 Hawkeye 1.2 meter VSAT units to the Army since 2004.

GCS division of L3 provides satellite communications (SATCOM) systems that integrate data, broadband internet, telephony, multimedia, audio, video, and computer networking. These rugged, easily deployed systems are utilized by the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security as well as federal agencies and commercial sector customers.
